Stan Sakai is the creator of the comic book series Usagi Yojimbo. Sakai has been the writer and illustrator of the series from 1984 to the present. Before Usagi Yojimbo, Sakai wrote and illustrated a brief funny animal comic book series entitled The Adventures of Nilson Groundthumper and Hermy. In addition, he is also the letterer of Groo The Wanderer by Sergio Aragonés.
In early UY stories he signed his name in Japanese as 坂井正彦.
